Dallas Banjo Band

|
The Band was formed in 1989 under the Direction of Smokey Montgomery a pre-eminent Banjoist with Bob Wills' Texas Swing Band. They were the Light Crust Doughboys of Radio fame in the 30's and 40's. Smokey was, more importantly, a genius at musical arrangements and his multiple harmonies and rhythms set the Dallas Banjo Band apart from other Banjo Bands which usually have only simple melody and basic chording in their arrangements. |

Members of the Band vary from professional musicians to amateurs who actually learned to play during their Band tenure. Backgrounds vary from Business executives, Retired Military, Tradesmen, Teachers, Accountants, and a myriad of other vocations. The ages vary from pre-teen to octogenarian, with an average age of approximately late seventies. Our oldest participant is 90 and we have several females in the group. We're always looking for more players. |
